The Uptempo has been one of Nike’s biggest success stories this year. With an incredibly hyped release of a Supreme x Nike Uptempo earlier this year, the model was cemented as one of Nike’s hottest shoes on sale today. Since then the swoosh brand have gone on to release the Uptempo in various different colourways, almost all of which gained strong consumer support. It is perhaps this success that has led to Nike’s upcoming release of the Air Max Flair, a shoe that has clearly been influenced by the fan favourite Uptempo.
The Flair is expected to be released this summer in a “Cool Grey” colourway, marking the start of what will likely be a string of success filled releases. The Flair brings retro vibes, incorporating the Uptempo bold lettering with a low top upper to great effect. The silhouette has drawn comparisons with basketball shoes, perhaps the most aesthetically similar being Kobe’s signature shoe. Despite this, the Flair is billed as a lifestyle shoe, and will retail at $160 whenever Nike eventually decides to drop it. The unique design is sure to divide opinions, making it interesting to see whether the Flair can live up to the success of its cousin the Uptempo.
